Living in the ghetto yeshiva apartment.
My wife is out of the country visiting our families with the baby, there is no point in staying a one and a half hours bus ride away in an empty house.
I am staying in an annex apartment of the yeshiva and living the life of a Jew out of a pack, a good three week oppertunity to tune my travel gear.
I wish I had brought my folding tripod chair, it makes courtyard Wi-Fi surfing easier than dragging a huge plastic picnic chair.
here is my shopping list and prices. I have tried to record prices in shekel.
-hat 200 (black fedora yeshivish)
-suit 255 (black)
-shirt and tie 25+35
-scrub pants (nice to use as pajamas)
-cotton hostel bag 100 (with access to pillow blanket and bed but need your own sheet)
-flip-flop sandals 40 (diadora brand stronger than the super cheap shower sandals)
-imersion heater 45 (boil water in a cup or pot)
-detergent 7 (liquid dish detergent for pots cups clothes floor etc)
-soap and soap box 7+2+2
-cup 3
-bowl 3
-pot 15
-cutting board 10
-clothes line 10 (bungie cord style 1-3 meter stretch with clothepins on the cord)
A more important skill than how to live out of a pack is conflict resolution room/hostel mates. Rooming with a stressed dorm mate for a length of time after spending 6 years happily married is a challenge.
I am trying to keep my hands out of the bank now and live off of yshiva food. I did buy tea biscuts and nana (mint) tea so I would be able to make a sudah mitsvot when desired. kiddush can be made over tea or other drink worthy of a king(if kosher wine or grape juice is unavaliable) and followed by a bread or mizinot like the tea biscuts, both of these are suitble to be served to a king/queen (ask your Rav).
BTW I am atempting posting with over a local Wi-Fi hotspot and typed this with my Zaurus 5500 and the pocketop IR wireless keyboard.
p.s. blogger.com is incompatable with links and this version of Konqueror browser for openzaurus 3.2 so I am posting after my return home, yahoo mail was also unable to send because of similar browser related problems.
